Ziegfeld Girls: Barbara Stanwyck

 

Barbara Stanwyck (July 16, 1907 – January 20, 1990) who had a 60-year career as an actress, made 85 films in 38 years in Hollywood, before turning to television. She was a favorite of legendary directors such as Cecil B. DeMille, Fritz Lang and Frank Capra among others. When Stanwyck was sixteen she went to work as a dancer in the 1922 and 1923 seasons of the Ziegfeld Follies.

Gloria Swanson was one of the most prominent stars during the silent film era as both an actress and a fashion icon. Swanson was nominated for the first Academy Award in the Best Actress category and had an acting career in theatre, film, and television that spanned sixty years.
